Olivier Polge

While he draws his inspiration from a rich family heritage, he doesn't hesitate to break away from it to create singular, timeless fragrances, embodying excellence and creativity in each of his creations.

Born in Grasse in 1974, Olivier Polge has established himself as one of the great names in contemporary olfactory creation. The son of Jacques Polge, an illustrious Chanel perfumer, he has forged his own identity while perpetuating a prestigious family heritage.
Before plunging into the world of fragrances, Olivier Polge studied art history, a discipline that continues to nurture his aesthetic sense and creativity. He began his career at Charabot, a Grasse-based company specialising in the transformation of ingredients for the perfume industry.
In 1998, his career took a decisive turn when he joined International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF). Based in New York, he returned to France in 2003, where he made his name with his first creations, including the highly acclaimed Dior Homme in 2005.
In 2009, Olivier Polge was awarded the Prix International du Parfum, a distinction honouring the exceptional quality of his creations.
His most emblematic creations include SpiceBomb for Viktor & Rolf (2012) and La Vie est belle by Lancôme (2012).
In September 2013, Olivier Polge joined Les Parfums Chanel, alongside Christopher Sheldrake and his father Jacques Polge, who had been the house's perfumer since 1978. Two years later, in February 2015, he officially succeeded his father as Chanel's nose.
Charged with preserving the house's unique olfactory heritage while innovating, he rose to the challenge with brio.
His work for Chanel includes bold creations, such as the launch of N°5 L'Eau in 2015, a modern reinterpretation of the legendary N°5, and the perfume version of Bleu de Chanel in 2018, testifying to his talent for combining tradition and modernity.
Olivier Polge continues to leave his mark on the world of perfumery through his ability to capture emotion in his compositions. While he draws his inspiration from a rich family heritage, he never hesitates to break away from it to create singular, timeless fragrances. Today, he remains a major player in French perfumery, embodying excellence and creativity in every creation.
