For Miroslav Petkov, fragrance is an escape—an expression of self that transcends the ordinary. He believes that perfume should bring joy, surprise, and a sense of freedom, allowing both the perfumer and the wearer to forget constraints.
Miroslav Petkov’s path to perfumery was driven by instinct and curiosity. Born in Bulgaria, he first encountered the world of fragrance as an apprentice at a local production center, where he trained under seasoned perfumers and developed a deep appreciation for raw materials and formulation. It was in the laboratory—surrounded by bottles of scent—that he discovered fragrance as his true artistic medium.
Eager to broaden his horizons, Miroslav’s career took him from Bulgaria to Argentina, where he immersed himself in a new culture before relocating to Spain, where he refined his craft and immersed himself in diverse olfactory traditions. His experience later in Middle Eastern perfumery played a defining role in his approach, shaping his mastery of deep, ambery-woody accords, opulent florals, and complex spice blends.
Now based in Dubai, Miroslav is a perfumer at IFF, where he continues to push creative boundaries, blending technical mastery with an unwavering passion for self-expression and storytelling through scent. He draws inspiration from childhood memories, global influences, and unexpected moments of nostalgia, believing that a perfume should transcend trends and resonate on a deeply personal level, evoking emotion, memory, and a sense of wonder.
