Petitgrain

Fresh, green, citrus, floral and bitter.

A spritz of petitgrain entices with spritely citrus facets. It’s lively and a bit bitter, and blends boldly in Eau de Colognes. Petitgrain balances floral notes with deeply green facets in an accord that is unmistakably fresh.

Production

Making yet another appearance in perfumery, the esteemed bitter orange tree plays a hand in petitgrain production. Native to Paraguay, Spain and Morocco, the bitter orange tree is stripped of its leaves and twigs—which are then distilled—to create our much-loved petitgrain essence.

EAU DE COLOGNE JEAN-MARIE FARINA

This Eau de Cologne uses the formula of Aqua Mirabilis, invented in 1695 by Giovanni Paolo Feminis: a citrus accord around Neroli and Petitgrain, on an aromatic accord. This recipe was then passed down through his family to Jean-Marie Farina in 1788, who had it distilled. It will later be bought by the Roger & Gallet house.
