Although the plant originated in the Mediterranean, it is now mainly grown in the Balkans, particularly in Serbia, for the perfume industry.
This tall, bush-like herb measures 40 to 60 centimetres in height. It blooms throughout the summer, from the end of June, with tiny yellow pompon-shaped flowers that do not fade when picked, hence its name.
Harvesting takes place at the beginning of July, using machines similar to those used for lavender.
Most of the flowers are dried in the sun for a few days before being sent for extraction.
Under the bright Mediterranean sky, the majestic immortelle blooms, the jewel of arid landscapes. Like an eternal sentinel of time, this flower with its evocative name shines in all its splendour. Its brilliant, precious golden yellow colour glistens in the sunlight, defying the passing of the seasons with timeless grace.
Its tiny flowers, grouped together in dense flower heads, form a luminous jewel box, reminiscent of the hidden treasures of ancient tales. Their delicate, evergreen papery texture evokes the promise of unalterable beauty, defying the winds and tides of time. These golden petals, like the gold of the alchemists, retain their brilliance even after being plucked, transforming each bouquet into a work of eternity, hence its name.
The silvery-grey leaves, linear and soft to the touch, add a note of mystery to this sublime plant. They contrast magnificently with the golden glow of the flowers, creating a visual harmony worthy of the greatest painters.
