Diptyque's olfactory adventure began in Paris in 1961, when three artists, Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, and Yves Coueslant, united by their sensitivity, set up a space where they sold decorative objects.
Scented candles are the brand's entry into the world of fragrance. In 1963, Diptyque introduced a new concept of ambiance with the first scented candle, bringing the sensory experience of perfumes into the home.
And in 1968, the brand continued to explore the world of perfume with its first eau de toilette, L’Eau, which follows a 16th-century recipe as an evocation of pomanders – objects used in the past to scent rooms – without adhering to a specific genre.
Nature, travel, and graphic arts are the hallmarks of Diptyque's olfactory universe, which features evocative fragrances such as L'Ombre dans L'Eau, Do Son, Fleur de Peau, and L’Eau des Hespérides.
