Fragrances' ability to positively influence our mood makes them an essential part of daily life. Perfumes have become a staple in various forms, from scented bath products to aromatic candles that bring warmth and comfort to our homes.
This strong connection to fragrance has sparked innovative collaborations, such as the partnership between Pantone and dsm-firmenich. Pantone, renowned for its leadership in graphic arts, venturing into the olfactory realm with one of the top fragrance houses, dsm-firmenich. This collaboration has resulted in the Mocha Mousse fragrance, created by perfumer Honorine Blanc. In addition, dsm-firmenich has developed a collection of seven fragrances inspired by Mocha Mousse, including eau de toilette, hair mist, bath gel, and fabric softener. All these products use the innovative Mocha Mousse Smell-The-Taste™ technology, translating aromas, emotions, and textures into unique olfactory experiences.

Gourmand fragrance lovers are in luck–sweet notes are trending and are perfect for everyday wear.
Perfumes such as Good Girl by Carolina Herrera, Black Opium by YSL, Yes I Am Delicious by Cacharel, La Vie Est Belle Elixir by Lancôme and The Scent Private Accord by Hugo Boss are examples of this in women's perfumery.
In Good Girl, the cocoa note feels warm and enveloping when blended with tonka bean, while Black Opium evokes a creamy, chocolatey sensation with an addictive, gourmand coffee effect. Yes I Am comes across as a delicious chocolate milkshake, and La Vie Est Belle Elixir introduces an earthy nuance to the cocoa note. Finally, The Scent Private Accord reveals a sensual, slightly dark side by combining dark roasted cocoa with notes of ginger and mandarin.

The gourmand notes of cocoa and coffee are also prominent in men's perfumery, as demonstrated by Bad Boy Extreme by Carolina Herrera, an addictive fragrance that balances the warmth of cocoa and vetiver with a touch of fresh ginger. Similarly, Salvatore Ferragamo's Uomo evokes an irresistible essence of a tiramisu dessert.

Powerful balance

Powerful balance

Sweetness in perfumes is balanced with woody, ambery, spicy, or floral accords, elevating the elegance of the olfactory composition. These fragrances avoid being overly cloying, creating sophisticated experiences perfect for cold climates and occasions that call for an enveloping scent.
Flowers and aldehydic nuances create a powdery symphony with a touch of cocoa in Lilac Love, by Amouage.
Far from subtleties, Orchidée Vainille, by Van Cleef & Arpels, is a fiery blend of sweet vanilla, candied almond, and chocolate.
Myrrh, liquorice and cocoa give a powerful and bold character to one of Carolina Herrera Confidential's creations, Gold Myrrh Absolute.
Choco Violette by Mancera combines dark chocolate, violet, and woody notes, softening its sweetness with a powdery touch after initial application.

New olfactory twists avoid cloying compositions by creating a play of contrasts in perfect balance.

The gourmand realm offers ample opportunities for creative expression, particularly for niche and artisanal brands. Sweet notes combined with unusual ingredients result in uniquely rich and different fragrances.
Created by master perfumer Olivier Cresp, Akro's Dark is like biting into a bar of dark chocolate–an addictive, sophisticated pleasure that stimulates serotonin.
Powerful and sensual, Kilian's Black Phantom blends fiery coffee and rum with sugarcane, chocolate, and sandalwood.

An intense dark cocoa extract, contrasted with cardamom, serves as the foundation for Cocoa Kimiya Extrait by Atelier Des Ors, which explores contrasts to create an olfactory chiaroscuro between sweetness and a hint of bitterness. "I was inspired by the work of Pierre Soulages and, specifically, by his creations in walnut tones," explains perfumer Marie Salamagne.

Classified as 'gourmand baroque' by the brand itself, Anima Dulcis, by Arquiste, revisits the colonial olfactory legacy of a convent in Mexico through an infusion of cocoa with chilli, and vanilla.

Black cherries, honey, and tobacco leaves lend Kayali's Invite Only Amber 23 a profound character that becomes irresistible when paired with a hazelnut chocolate accord.
