Philippine Courtière

It would be difficult to fit Philippine into any category. A Parisian living in Dubai, a keen sportswoman and an epicurean, she is extremely independent and has an inquiring mind. She is an avid reader and a shrewd art collector.

Philippine Courtière was studying law when an internship in a perfume shop changed the course of her life. She has never been able to explain what exactly triggered this revelation, but it was certainly a turning point. Her parents worked in perfumery and Philippine was always interested in their creations, so the turning point was not accidental, but unexpected.
Philippine also has strong ties to the fashion world. Her grandfather, Jaques Rouet, helped launch the house of Dior. Philippine was his first granddaughter and he took her with him everywhere. He passed on to her his tendency towards superstition, but also his experience, his perseverance, his energetic character and a strong sense of self-confidence. He taught Philippine that "willpower and hard work allow you to realise your dreams".
The perfumer is passionate about her work. Without challenges she gets bored easily. She practised ballet and then horse riding with the same dedication, until a skiing accident forced her to slow down.
She set off to discover Dubai with the same passion, studied Arabic and left France to discover a new world that immediately caught her interest. For her, the "folie des grandeurs" of the Middle East was a dream. "In Dubai, every weekend is a holiday and everything is a pretext for partying and excess". But even though she now lives in Dubai, she is still a Parisian "par excellence" and perhaps loves this city even more for having left it.
It would be difficult to fit Philippine into any category. A Parisian living in Dubai, a keen sportswoman and epicurean, she is extremely independent and has a restless mind. She is an avid reader and an astute art collector. No category would be rich enough for this multi-faceted and multi-faceted woman artist: she can only be described as unique.
