Olivier Cresp

Named Master Perfumer in 2006 and Perfumer of the Year in 2007, he is a mentor to young talents. In the same spirit, he is also a member of a committee that promotes his craft and passion, and endeavours to afford perfumers the status of artist and creator. He began his career with Firmenich in 1992, and in 2012 was honoured with the title Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.

Revered in Grasse, his family's home town since the 17th century, Master Perfumer Olivier Cresp is a true icon of French perfumery. His great-grandfather grew roses and jasmine, and his father and grandfather traded in raw materials. Since then, the family secrets have been passed on to his son Sébastien.
As a child, Olivier would walk with his father through the flower fields. Most evenings, just as other children listen to a bedtime story, the Cresp family would smell the fresh flowers picked that day. Their early life wove an olfactory memory embellished by exquisite and complex aromas. Extracted by man, the delicate charm of flowers and their magical alchemy instilled in the young Olivier an extraordinary artistic sensibility.

Olivier brings to his profession an incomparable scope, aided by keen observation and a sense of calm. A lover of gastronomy and all things refined, his perfumery is careful, delicate and timeless. Always intuitive, Cresp recognises the importance of distinguishing himself from others. "One idea a year is enough, as long as it's the best," he says with a wry smile. He always explores the world of emotions with curiosity and searches for a powerful and unique concept that catches the eye time and time again.
