"A fragrance should be a door opening onto a world, a powerful evocation that transcends simple olfactory pleasure."
In the alleyways of Florence, where the stones still echo with the footsteps of Renaissance Tuscan merchants, Lorenzo Villoresi composes perfumes as others write poems. With a doctorate in ancient philosophy and biblical philology, he spent a long time exploring the intricacies of thought before being captivated by another language: that of essences. His first trip to the Middle East in 1981 marked the beginning of a fascination with spices and raw materials from elsewhere. From then on, the trail of fragrance haunted him, blending with his academic research to become an all-consuming passion.
In 1991, he presented his first collection of fragrances, a personal interpretation of the great classic themes of perfumery. Bucking trends, each creation is an independent work of art, born of a precise vision, an intimate dialogue between memory and inspiration. In his world, eternal Tuscany meets the intoxicating Orient; forgotten scents mingle with the precious accords of woods, resins and rare spices.
Far from industrial processes, Villoresi perpetuates artisanal know-how, where each fragrance is created with the meticulousness of an alchemist. In 2006, his talent was recognised in Paris with the prestigious "Prix François Coty" for his body of work. And in 2018, loyal to his home town, he founded the Florence Perfume Museum, an ode to the mysteries of the olfactory world. Lorenzo Villoresi continues his immobile journey, guided by the imprint of scents and the quest for timeless beauty.
