Julien Plos

Thanks to his mother who is a perfumer, Julien Plos was immersed in the world of fragrance at a young age. While learning about the history and traditions of perfumery in Grasse, in the south of France, he discovered his passion for natural ingredients. Scientific by nature, he was drawn to the world of olfaction and built his expertise through different experiences. In exceeding the challenges he faced, he honed his skill and mastered his profession, and became a perfumer working directly for several major global brands.
Since graduation from studying perfumery at ISIPCA in Versailles, Julien seized working opportunities in England and the United States, where his curiosity and determination taught him to work with great rigor. In London, he appreciated the eclectic culture and energy of the city. In the United States, the American culture left him believing that anything is possible. In 2018, Julien returned to Paris where the majestic plazas inspire his dreams, and he joined his first fragrance house, Firmenich, where he now expresses his creativity, talent and drive for perfectionism.
Calm, precise and detailed, Julien is devoted to drawing. He enjoys creating contrasts, playing with light and dark, sketching forms such as statues. He escapes in the lines of his pencil or pen, meditating in black and white to develop a new world aesthetic. Julien also loves basketball, a team sport in which he finds parallels with his life as a perfumer. Despite its competitive and high endurance nature, it demands a spirit of camaraderie and support among its teammates.
Julien is energized by the great perspectives for the future of perfumery, including new technologies and new ways of interacting with perfume. Driven by innovation, Julien uses the latest high-tech extraction methods to explore different, unexpected facets of natural ingredients. He is also fascinated by the consumer data which allows him to understand consumers’ culture and predict their expectations. He is interested in the new sensory approaches to perfumery and enjoys imagining new innovative fragrance gestures.
