"The materials that most resemble me are galbanum - the first one I smelled at school, which blew my mind because it was so concrete, abstract and hyper-energetic at the same time, a revelation - and iris - also phenomenal because it's as raw as a root and as sophisticated as a glove of skin".
Independent perfumer Isabelle Doyen is a leading figure in contemporary perfumery. After graduating from ISIPCA in 1982, she began her career working alongside her teacher Monique Schlienger, with whom she collaborated on olfactory creation. In 1985, her meeting with Annick Goutal marked the beginning of a relationship of trust and friendship that would last the designer's entire life. She became the brand's 'in-house' perfumer, creating iconic fragrances such as Sables, Gardénia Passion, Eau du Sud, Grand Amour, Petite Chérie and Ce Soir ou Jamais.
At the same time, she taught olfaction at ISIPCA, training perfumers who are now renowned, such as Francis Kurkdjian and Mathilde Laurent. In 1993, she co-founded the independent design company Aromatique Majeur with Annick Goutal, dedicated mainly to the company's own fragrances. After Annick's death in 1999, her daughter Camille Goutal took over, continuing the collaboration with Isabelle. Together they created the Voyages Imaginaires brand, taking up the challenge of 100% natural creations.
Inspired by reading, painting and the arts, she also explored more experimental olfactory territories. She has created several scents for Les Nez, as well as Nuit de Bakélite for Naomi Goodsir. Always at the crossroads of transmission and innovation, she continues to shape the world of perfume with sensitivity and daring.
