Alexis Grugeon

Alexis joined the first class of L’École Supérieure de Parfum, the new perfumery school in Paris where he spent three years and earned a degree in Applied Chemistry for the fragrance industry. During this period he interned at a fragrance house in New York, returning to Grasse as an Apprentice Perfumer during the summer months. Today he devotes himself to creating new textures and playing with contrasts, and he particularly loves combining addictive ingredients.

Alexis Grugeon was born in Beauvais, a small town in a region of northern France surrounded by forests and nature. He loved everything
of his childhood and youth: the local beauty, playing sports - especially rugby - and being a drummer in local bands.
One day, this young drummer and rugby player came into contact with the world of perfumery when, at the age of nine, he visited the Perfume Museum in Grasse. Suddenly, Alexis realised what he wanted his future to be and told his family and friends: "Perfume will become the centre of my life!
After his secondary school studies, Alexis entered the first class of L'École Supérieure de Parfum, the new perfumery school in Paris, where he spent three years and obtained the title of Applied Chemist in the fragrance industry. During this period he did an internship in a New York perfume house, and returned to Grasse as an apprentice perfumer during the summer months.
Today she is dedicated to creating new textures and playing with contrasts, and she particularly enjoys combining addictive ingredients.
"I am always looking for ways to mix surprising elements that give rise to totally unexpected effects". Olfactory creation fascinates and excites him. "I don't have the feeling of working, but of enjoying the pleasure of my passion".
Alexis says he has always been colour blind, so he is not influenced by colours. In fact, he suggests that his colour blindness allowed him to develop his early sensitivity to fragrances. "That probably explains my attraction to the world of fragrances from a very young age. Perfume is my colour.
But although the solitary discipline of competitive sport stimulates him, more than anything else he loves the contact with other people and sharing ideas with his colleagues at Firmenich, especially the master perfumers. "They are so humble, but their creativity, humanity and sense of family are incredible. Alexis is always open to discovery, and hopes to keep this attitude alive in his work. He says: "My goal is to create new fragrance signatures through rewarding collaborations, to create emotions and to continue to grow through my work," and concludes: "I believe that
I have the best job in the world.
