The scent of pear is delightfully fruity, with a balancing green facet that softens its sweetness. Likened to “English candy,” pear is both juicy and definitively candied. Its ethereal scent is appreciated across both feminine and masculine fragrances.
A member of the Rosaceae family, pears originated in south-eastern Europe, and were particularly popular among the ancient Romans and Greeks. Homer even went so far as to describe the fruit as a “gift from the Gods.” A salivating fruit for the taste buds and an irresistible olfactory experience for the nose—it’s no wonder perfumers have gotten into a tizzy trying to capture the scent. Nowadays, the pear note is synthetically recreated using the headspace technique.
The sensual freshness of ripe pear is enveloped in a bouquet of white freesias, and softened by a base of amber, patchouli and woods.
