Fougère accord

Evoke the old-fashioned barber shop and the act of shaving.

Fougère accords evoke the clean-shaven scent of an old-fashioned barbershop. Typically, Fougère accords are made up of lavender, oakmoss and coumarin—creating a deeply aromatic, green scent. A Fougère can be dressed up with other notes for an added dash of complexity, or dressed down and kept simple for a clean, minimalistic effect.

History

The first fougère fragrance made its debut in 1882 when perfumer Paul Parquet concocted the heavenly elixir for the house of Houbigant. He called his creation “Fougère Royale,” and thus a new fragrance frenzy erupted—as perfume devotees clamored for this royal composition.

FOUGÈRE ROYALE (1884)

Paul Parquet first used coumarin in 1882 in his creation: Fougère Royale. The success was immense and he thus invented a new olfactory family: Fougère, by combining coumarin with lavender, oakmoss and bergamot.
