Coffee notes bring a deliciously leathery, liquor-like heat to (mostly) masculine fragrances. Subtle nuances of tobacco mix with deeply woody, roasted notes to give an unmistakable warmth to fragrances. Coffee notes are sometimes recreated synthetically, using several raw materials.
The origin of coffee is shrouded in myth and mysticism; the actual origins of the bean is largely up for debate. Believed to originate from Ethiopia, coffee played a large role in strengthening trade between East and West. By the 16th century, coffee had reached the Middle East, Persia, Turkey, and northern Africa. From there, coffee spread to Italy and the rest of Europe, and then on to Indonesia and, eventually, the Americas.
