Houbigant is one of the oldest perfumery houses in the world, founded in 1775 by Jean-François Houbigant, a young perfumer who opened his first shop, A la Corbeille de Fleurs, in rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris.
From its beginnings, Houbigant conquered the aristocracy and royalty. In 1838, he was licensed as Her Majesty's Perfumer by Queen Victoria of England. The high quality of its perfumes, as well as its innovative proposals, have established it over the years as one of the most respected houses of high perfumery.
Houbigant was responsible for the introduction of the fougère olfactory family, thanks to the launch in 1882 of Fougère Royale, a scent combining lavender, oakmoss, coumarin and geranium, which has laid the foundations of modern men's perfumery.
