Jérôme di Marino

Cultivator of precision for words, as well as for olfactory notes, like a collector of rare objects.

With a spirit both energetic like the sun and vast like the ocean, this young perfumer with an admirable career has earned recognition in his chosen métier. Living and working between Paris and Barcelona, he joined Mane’s creative team at the end of 2022.

Mediterranean at heart, Jérôme Di Marino was born in the French Alps, where the two countries of his parents met. His father's family is from Abruzzo, Italy, and his mother's, the French Savoy. He grew up in a small village in Haute Savoie, where his bedroom overlooked the Mont Blanc. He savored a life in the open air, roaming free and insouciant. The olfactory picture of his childhood is thus composed of frank touches – those of wooden and waxed interiors, of the oily green scent of cedar hedges, of a kitchen with basil and of the pizzelle, an Italian waffle encrusted with lemon and anise. Keen on culinary aromas, even today when Di Marino travels, first on the itinerary would be the local markets, where he discovers the regional produce – fruits, spices, vegetables – as well as traditional recipes.

Yet, it is this profession that summons him ceaselessly. The idea came to him at the end of high school, after having moved to Nice. Passionate about drawing, and looking to cultivate his creative fiber, he considered attending an art school. An ISIPCA brochure placed before the guidance counselor's office, however, revealed to him his true path. After an education in chemistry, Di Marino enrolled in the famous school. His apprenticeship took place at Givaudan where he met Nathalie Cetto, the first tutor in his career.

Two years later, after a passage in the LVMH group, he joined the Takasago house, where Francis Kurkdjian supervised a new phase of his apprenticeship: a year and a half devoted to reviewing accords, studying classic greats and contemporary hits. At the end of the program, encouraged by the benevolence of his mentor, Di Marino signed in 2015 the perfume Black for Daniel Hechter, which won the FiFi award for best perfume in mass market.

Jérôme Di Marino is a perfectionist who dives into each creative endeavor with determination, treating every project as a unique puzzle. He achieves perfection through meticulous technique, blending elements like indulgence and comfort in his signature creations. Inspired by contrasts and the importance of context, Di Marino explores unexpected ingredient pairings at Mane, favoring surprise over predictable naturalism. His interests extend beyond perfumery to gastronomy, mixology, and art, all driven by a multi-artistic approach. Guided by a desire to innovate and break boundaries, Di Marino’s path is marked by his unconventional inspirations and commitment to exploring new creative territories.
