"You can never get enough of Iso E Super. One sniff and you want the whole bottle. It’s like a drug."
Born in Kassel, Germany, Geza Schoen is a visionary perfumer who has shaken up the conventions of traditional perfumery. From an early age, he was fascinated by aromas and essences, a passion which led him to train at Haarmann & Reimer, now known as Symrise. There, he honed his craft and developed a unique approach to olfactory creation.
In 2006, driven by a spirit of innovation, Schoen founded Escentric Molecules, a perfumery house that highlights the singular beauty of isolated aromatic molecules. His first opus, "Escentric 01", celebrates Iso E Super, a synthetic molecule with velvety, bewitching scents. This bold, minimalist approach immediately appealed to a public in search of new sensory experiences.
An eclectic collaborator, Geza Schoen lends his nose to a number of prestigious houses, including Diesel, Ormonde Jayne and Boudicca. His talent lies in his ability to transcend the traditional boundaries of perfumery, creating compositions that challenge expectations and awaken the senses.
Among his notable creations are "Wode" for Boudicca, a mysterious and avant-garde fragrance, and "Ormonde Woman" for Ormonde Jayne, a fragrance that skilfully blends woody and floral notes for a sophisticated yet mesmerising result.
In 2016, his pioneering spirit was recognised with the Outstanding Artist Award for Interdisciplinarity, acknowledging his significant contribution to the art of scent. The following year, he received the "Sadakichi Award for Experimental Work with Scent" alongside Wolfgang Georgsdorf for their project "Osmodrama / Smeller 2.0", an immersive installation that explores the links between smells and emotions.
Today, based in Berlin, Geza Schoen continues to push back the boundaries of contemporary perfumery. His bold and creative work invites people to rediscover the world of scents from a new angle, where each molecule tells a story and awakens new sensations.
